Our story

We started because the flowers kept arriving tired

NouraBloom opened in 2019 in a warehouse unit off Alserkal Avenue, in Al Quoz 1. The building was chosen for one dull, decisive reason: it had the ceiling height and the power supply for a proper walk-in cold room. Everything else about the studio — the long zinc bench, the racks of ribbon, the concrete floor that never quite dries — grew around that.

The idea came from being repeatedly disappointed as a customer. Flowers ordered in Dubai arrived heat-shocked, pre-made and three days older than they looked online. The fix was not clever. It was buying at the Dubai Flower Centre every morning instead of holding stock, conditioning overnight rather than arranging on arrival, and refusing to tie a single bouquet before somebody had actually ordered it.

Seven years on, that is still the whole method. We hold nine varieties year-round and let the rest come and go with the season, which means we are occasionally the florist telling you that peonies are finished until March. We would rather be that than the one selling you something else under their name.

How we work

Five steps, in the same order, every day

None of this is a secret and none of it is clever. It is simply the sequence that produces a bouquet still worth looking at on day eight.

The five o'clock market run

Dubai Flower Centre, six days a week

One of us is at the Flower Centre before the traders finish unpacking the overnight freight from Nairobi, Bogotá and Aalsmeer. Buying in person is slower and considerably less convenient than a standing order, and it is the only way to reject a box because the heads have travelled badly.

Overnight conditioning

Cut, stripped, and left to drink

Everything comes back to the cold room at 4°C, gets cut on the angle, has its lower leaves stripped and then stands in flower food overnight. A rose that has drunk for twelve hours before it is arranged lasts about three days longer than one that has not. This is the least glamorous part of the business and the part that does the most work.

Tied after you order

Nothing is pre-made

There is no wall of finished bouquets waiting for a courier. Your arrangement is built when the order comes in, by one of six florists, from stems graded that morning. It is why a same-day Dubai delivery takes two to four hours rather than twenty minutes, and we would rather explain the delay than remove it.

Our own drivers

Not a courier network

Five drivers, five cooled vans, all on our payroll. They know that a hatbox travels flat and a hand-tie travels upright, they will call ahead rather than abandon a bouquet at a security desk, and they carry water. Handing this to a parcel network would save us money and cost you the flowers.

The call back

Three days later

We contact a share of customers three days after delivery to ask how the flowers are holding. It surfaces the varieties that underperform in a UAE summer, which is how gerbera left the catalogue and lisianthus earned a permanent place in it.

Noura trained in Amsterdam, spent four years arranging for hotels on Sheikh Zayed Road, and opened the studio after deciding the interesting problem was logistics rather than design. She still does the market run three mornings a week.
